Get ready

1. Business name

We highly recommend that you do not include details like “LLC” at the end of your business name, because it makes you look like small potatoes, and customers do not care how you file your taxes.

2. Introduction sentence

A sentence that introduces your business.

3. Service areas

Where are your products and services available?

4. Contact info

Email address. Required. Please do not use personal emails. We recommend creating an “@gmail.com” email with the name of your business, if you do not wish to pay for a professional Google Workspace account.

Phone number. Not required, but nice to have.

Physical address. Only required if you have a public location. At minimum, we like to display your city and state.

5. Logo files

If you do not have a logo, we will display your business name in a nice font.

6. Outline of products/services

Names, descriptions, and pricing, if you wish to have that level of transparency.

7. Imagery

A portrait of you, team portraits, product shots, services in action shots, stock photos that you want us to use, icons or illustrations that you want us to use, etc. If you do not have anything, we highly suggest that you take some. Portrait Mode on our phones can go a long way. Customers prefer actual photos from a business, because it shows them what they’re getting. It builds trust and eliminates their fear of being scammed.

8. Text

What you write does not have to be perfect, because we will help you edit. We just need you to send us all of the facts that you need customers to hear. Your website should do the talking for you, to save you time. What are the questions that customers always ask? What do you usually say to customers, to get them to make a purchase decision? Let’s put it all on your website.

9. Sections list

In this package, you get 5 sections. Think of sections like presentation slides. If you were to create a presentation of your business, what would be the 5 things you would cover? If you need ideas, we’ve got lots for you to choose from here.

What businesses often choose

  1. Business intro (summary of what you do and what sets you apart)

  2. Services (detailed outline of what customers can choose from)

  3. Owner or team intro (makes it personal, builds trust)

  4. Call to action (gets the customer to book, buy, or contact)

  5. Customer reviews (your favorite 1-3 reviews, with a link to read more)

Before any work can begin, all content must be collected and finalized. It’s extremely inefficient to start and stop a project because materials were missing at the start. Providing everything before development begins will prevent additional costs and deadline extensions.

No matter who you choose to build your new website, you will always need to prepare a bundle of materials for the developer to use. The development process can’t usually begin until everything has been provided. Even if you’re not ready to hire someone yet, it’s a good idea to begin collecting things now. We’ll cover the basics of what’s needed to get your website built as quickly as possible.

Your web developer is most likely a total badass, but they are neither an employee of your business nor a mind reader. The more information you can provide, the better. If you can help the developer understand your business, your taste, and your vision, they’ll be better equipped to make a website that you love.
